Hello, October!

We have been busy the past few weeks! Lots of fun activities and outings to share with you! :)

A cozy bonfire and cookout at our friends' house.

The dogs enjoying the last days of warm weather in the back yard.

This is a secret project that I'll be revealing in a few weeks when the video is done. ;)

A lovely morning nap before we have to work at the Glendale Festival that evening for our friends at Piccolo Wine Room.

A photo from our roadtrip to Akron for the Jack Johnson concert the next day!

A wonderful pre-show dinner at The Office Bistro. (I tried a bite of Tim's salmon pictured here and it was excellent. He also raved about the beer selection. I got some tasty Lobster Mac and a martini that were both awesome. We definitely would go back.)

This is the first indoor Jack Johnson concert that I've ever attended. (My fourth Jack concert total.) The acoustics in this place were A-MAZ-ING. It didn't matter that we were at the back of the concert hall because it was so crystal clear.

A great thing about Jack Johnson concerts is that he always brings in fun, eco-conscious booths to visit before the music starts.

The concert itself was fantastic. A good mix of old and new songs.

And, now, we're off to hunt some mushrooms! :)
(Edible ones of course! You know how we are.)

Portrait Photography Session -- Harlow and Liv

If you get the Livvielane newsletter, you probably have already seen a few of these shots but I just love 'em so much I had to show 'em again! :)  It was such a super fun, fashion-forward shoot for some awesome ladies who are starting up an online clothing boutique.

The two gals, Jen and Krista, came to me and had a very distinct vision as to the feeling they wanted to convey when people come to their website and view their pictures. They also wanted some cool and different bio photos as well. So we had a few goals in mind going into the shoot, but other than that, we just had lots of fun and caught some great images in the last hour of the sunlight that day.

Be sure to check out Harlow and Liv! :)

Meet my nephew!

This is the newest addition to our family! He was a few weeks early (his due date was Oct.1) but from everything I have learned, he is healthy and happy! He was born last Thursday, September 12 at 5lbs 10oz and 19in. I can't wait to meet him on my next trip to North Carolina! :) Congrats to my sister and Ryan on a healthy baby boy!

Whoa! It's been three weeks already?!

So that picture above is the main reason why I have been a little MIA the past few weeks. I was super busy the week before with a special photography project and was on the way to meet a client to wrap up said "special project" when BAM!!! I was hit from behind at 45 mph when stopped at a light. Let me tell you. I freaked out. I hit the steering wheel on impact. My face went numb. My arms went numb and tingly and my neck was instantly sore. Fortunately, I didn't see it coming or it probably would've been a LOT worse.

So I've spent the past two weeks on the couch a lot with an ice pack on my neck and upper back... just laying low and trying to recover. (Thankfully I know a great chiropractor or two and that is helping SO much.) This has been the first weekend since the accident that I've felt pretty normal with minimal pain.

My mom of course was super worried about me but I told her I was fine. Nonetheless, she sent me some beautiful flowers. :)  It always helps to boost the spirits!

In other news, we've had some great shopping trips out in the garden! We got quite a bit a rain a few weeks ago and had a few storms since then that have made for a bountiful crop! :) Yay for the simple pleasures.

Over the next few days, I'll be playing catch up on the blog, Facebook, email and anything else I had to take a hiatus from. Please be patient while I try to get back into the swing of things! (And thanks for hanging in there with me!) :)

Go Big or Go Small?

Many times clients want advice on where to hang big pictures and where to hang smaller images. Here are some quick rules of thumb to help you decide.

If you are hanging the images in an area where people will be standing right next to them when they are viewing them, such as a hallway or entryway, then it is the perfect place to hang a group of smaller pictures. These can be anything from 16x20’s, 8x10’s, and even 5x7’s. Anything bigger will cause the viewer to back way up to be able to take it all in.

When designing a wall that is across the room and not as accessible, then it is better to print bigger images like 16x24’s and even up to 36x48’s. That way, when guests walk into the room, they can easily see the pictures from far away and feel the energy and emotion that comes from the image. If you choose to hang small images on a far away wall, then your guests will have to walk all the way across the room and sometimes really strain to see what is in the picture.

Picking your image size by the space in which it is going to be displayed is the best way to enjoy your images that you want to view. If you’re really stuck, take a picture of the room and send it to me in an email! I’m always here to help! :)

Maternity and Family Session -- Jess

A few weeks ago (before our vacation to California) I had the privilege of a fun maternity session with Jess and her family. I had a great time photographing some new family memories for them out at Sharon Woods park here in Cincinnati.  And as I type this today, we are still awaiting the arrival of Baby Henley!  Best wishes to Jess! :)

Just a few quick pics that I took with my phone on our short trip to Cali.  Details and more pics to come next week when I'm not so jet-lagged.  ;) Happy Friday!

Vacation Mode

If you visit the Etsy shop this week, you will notice that I have put it in "vacation mode." Tim and I are taking a few days off to spend some time together and have fun in the sun. Business and blog posting will resume on Friday. Happy Summer to all! :)
