Maternity Portraits -- Kirstie

This was a fun maternity mini-session I shot a few weeks ago (before the madness of the holidays set in). I had originally wanted to do a nice, outdoorsy session but when it started raining that day, I knew we had to come up with a Plan B -- so indoors it was! Kirstie was easygoing and really up for anything which was great. And we even did a couple of images with their dogs in front of the Christmas tree which I totally loved.

Scott and Kirstie: Thanks for inviting me to photograph this special part of your life. Your little one will be here before we know it!!

Our little holiday party (aka The 12 Courses of Christmas)

Well, it wasn't exactly twelve courses... but it might as well have been! (My stomach was telling me it was!) There was so much food. Tim did a fantastic job executing all of these delicious dishes (and several more not pictured) and our good friend Dave brought over some excellently-paired wine. We got to catch up with some old friends and make some new ones. All in all, it was a pretty great party.

Five On Friday

Here are my favorite things from this month! I hope you enjoy them. :)

1. Umbra Bamboo Bathtub Caddy  - I saw this when I was shopping in Target the other day and almost bought it for myself. Almost. (Hint to Tim.) The best part is? There's a spot for your wine glass!
2. 8tracks - This is a music site/app that has mixes (yes, MIXES!) made by real people! Not like Pandora or Spotify where it's all computer-driven. I found an awesome 90's hip-hop mix that I worked out to this weekend and I literally didn't want to stop working out because the songs were so fantastic! I swear. Check out the website and if you like it, the app is available for iPhone and Android. Oh, and it's FREE.  (You can thank me later.)

3.Synergy Kombucha drinks - they are totally raw, tasty, organic, low-carb, low-calorie drinks that are SO healthy for you! I've been having them a few times per week in the afternoon when I feel a Starbucks craving coming on and then it really helps to make it through the the rest of the day. It really gives you good energy and I also notice it helps to control my appetite. Locally, they are about $3.69 per bottle (about the same you'd pay for a Starbucks drink). My recommendation? Try the Mystic Mango... it's definitely my favorite.

4. 30 Days of Pinspiration - I can't tell you a whole lot about this one because it's really a big secret to everyone. I just have this feeling it's gonna be pretty neat. :)

5.  Instagram Custom Earrings - Made by Instanything on Etsy. These were on Pinterest the other day and I immediately pinned them! They also have bracelets and necklaces. (The only dilemma is choosing a picture to wear.) Bonus: only $20 + free shipping. Yay for that.

Happy Friday everyone!

It's been a long week

I had originally planned to get a ton of work done this week -- write and schedule some blog posts, list new photos on Etsy and clean up the office a bit. Then Tuesday came and, bam, sore throat city. Not what you need when you're trying to be productive. Therefore, all this week I've been doing what I can to stay hydrated, rest as much as possible, and pump up my immune system with good stuff. Unfortunately that also meant not checking everything off the Livvielane to-do list. Please keep your fingers crossed for me that I can fight this silly cold and resume business as usual next week.

Have a great weekend all!

I'm Back!

Trick or treating with my niece

Having some drinks with friends

What a fun, glorious, restful vacation I had in North Carolina! It was so nice catching up with old friends and spending time with family. I even got to trick-or-treat with my little 2 yr old niece (on the right in the top picture) who, by the way, has the best dinosaur roar ever. ;)  So cute.

Honestly, I didn't do any of sightseeing or crazy activities (so to speak), just a lot of hanging out and relaxing. Before vacation, I was starting to get to a point where I was feeling burnt out with work. And, that's never a good way to be, y'all, so that time off couldn't have been timed more perfectly.  I hope you didn't mind my absence from the blog for a few weeks but it was a nice little thing for me to have a break right before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Eeek! Can you believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner? I can't!

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for sticking around the blog and checking back with me! I'll have posts back to the regular schedule this week.

Happy Monday, y'all! :)

NC news!

The time has come! I am finally going back down to North Carolina for a week to visit family and friends. I will be there the last few days of October and the beginning of November. I haven't decided yet which days will be designated for photoshoots, but I will probably nail those down next week when I see how the weather will be when I'm down there. So, if you are interested in setting up a session with me, please comment below or on Facebook and we will work it out!

Have a great weekend!

Around Here

Fall is settling in....

  • We have harvested the rest of the tomatoes from the garden (of which you can see many are green) and they are resting in the greenhouse.
  • Tim is working on a "Black Walnut Project." (I'm hoping this manifests into some ravioli filling in a few weeks.)
  • We are decorating the house with beautiful Autumn-colored potted Mums on the front porch.

What's new around your neck of the woods?
I have more exciting news to tell you all tomorrow!
